We’re excited to share that SportSpired Games is hiring a Lead Backend Go Developer to help build the infrastructure behind our next-gen AAA sports simulator. SportSpired Games is an international game studio developing next-generation sports simulators. Our team includes professionals with experience at Wargaming, MY.GAMES, The Walt Disney Company, Ubisoft, 343 Industries, Starbreeze, Sperasoft and EA Sports. We're working on a high-scale AAA title planned for release in 2028–2029.
Responsibilities
- Design the architecture and lead development of a high-performance game meta-server, including: authentication, player profile database, matchmaking, integration with third-party services (e.g. Steam), telemetry and analytics systems.
- Design and implement scalable data storage schemas for both OLTP and OLAP use cases.
- Build a robust system capable of handling high concurrent user loads (100,000+ CCU).
- Take an active role in hiring, onboarding, managing, and mentoring the backend engineering team.
- Perform code reviews and uphold best engineering practices.
- Collaborate closely with DevOps, LiveOps, game designers, and client developers.
- Promote and implement modern backend development practices, including testing, profiling, CI/CD, and observability.
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience in backend development of high-load, distributed systems.
- 3+ years of hands-on experience with Go in production environments.
- Solid understanding of performance optimization techniques, including Big-O complexity analysis.
- Experience leading and scaling engineering teams of 5 or more developers.
- Proficiency with containerization technologies such as Kubernetes, Docker, or Nomad.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively across technical and non-technical teams.
- Passion for writing clean, efficient, and maintainable code.
