About this Position
SportSpired Games is looking for a Lead Core Gameplay Designer to help define the gameplay experience of our next-generation AAA sports simulator. In this role, you will lead the design and evolution of core gameplay systems, working closely with designers, engineers, and production to deliver a competitive, responsive, and authentic player experience.
You will drive gameplay innovation, mentor other designers, and play a key role in shaping the long-term vision of the project's core gameplay.
SportSpired Games is an international game studio developing next-generation sports simulators. Our team includes professionals with experience at Wargaming, MY.GAMES, Ubisoft, 343 Industries, Starbreeze, Sperasoft, and EA Sports. We are currently working on a large-scale AAA title planned for release in 2028–2029.
Responsibilities
- Design, prototype, and iterate on core gameplay mechanics for a competitive sports game
- Define gameplay requirements and collaborate with engineers to deliver scalable gameplay systems
- Shape the long-term vision of Core Gameplay
- Drive improvements based on playtests, gameplay data, and player feedback
- Design gameplay systems that balance realism, accessibility, and competitive depth
- Collaborate with server engineers on multiplayer gameplay systems and client-server interactions
- Review gameplay features, documentation, and implementations to ensure high quality
- Coordinate and mentor gameplay designers, helping establish best practices across the team
- Maintain clear design documentation and effectively communicate design decisions across disciplines
Requirements
- 4+ years of experience as a Game Designer on PC or Console titles
- Experience designing and balancing gameplay systems for competitive multiplayer games
- Proven experience taking gameplay features from concept through release
- Participation in at least one shipped commercial game; post-launch support experience is a plus
- Strong knowledge of Unreal Engine
- Deep understanding of multiplayer game architecture, systemic game design, and gameplay balancing
- Experience designing server-driven gameplay systems and collaborating closely with gameplay engineers
- Strong analytical mindset with the ability to iterate using playtest results, player feedback, and gameplay metrics
- Experience leading designers, mentoring team members, and coordinating gameplay development
- Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration skills
