About this Position
SportSpired Games is looking for a Lead UI Programmer to own the technical direction and architecture of the UI for our next-generation AAA sports simulator.
In this role, you will combine hands-on Unreal Engine development with technical leadership, building scalable UI systems, improving tools and workflows, and supporting a team of UI programmers.
SportSpired Games is an international game studio developing next-generation sports simulators. Our team includes professionals with experience at Wargaming, MY.GAMES, Ubisoft, 343 Industries, Starbreeze, Sperasoft, and EA Sports. We are currently working on a large-scale AAA title planned for release in 2028–2029.
Responsibilities
- Own and evolve the architecture of the game's UI systems in Unreal Engine
- Define technical standards, best practices, and documentation for UI development
- Lead and mentor UI programmers through task planning, code reviews, and technical guidance
- Design and implement complex UI features and systems
- Ensure UI works seamlessly across target platforms and different input methods
- Profile and optimize UI performance, troubleshoot complex technical issues, and maintain a high quality bar
- Develop tools and pipelines that enable UI/UX Designers and UI implementers to work efficiently
- Collaborate closely with UI/UX Designers, Gameplay Programmers, and other disciplines
- Participate in hiring, technical interviews, and candidate evaluation
- Regularly participate in playtests and drive improvements based on in-game results
Requirements
- 5+ years of professional UI development experience, preferably in the game industry
- 3+ years of hands-on UI development experience with Unreal Engine
- Strong understanding of Unreal Engine architecture and UI systems
- Strong C++ skills and solid software engineering fundamentals
- Deep understanding of software architecture and design patterns, with experience applying them in game development
- Ability to navigate, understand, and improve complex existing codebases
- Strong systems thinking and ability to make sound architectural decisions
- Experience leading, mentoring, or developing other engineers
- Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration skills
