
We are looking for a Middle AI Game Designer to help design and improve intelligent player behavior for our next-generation sports simulator. In this role, you will work on teammate and opponent AI, focusing on positioning, tactical decision-making, coordination, and adaptation to changing gameplay situations. SportSpired Games is an international game studio developing next-generation sports simulators. Our team includes professionals with experience at Wargaming, MY.GAMES, Ubisoft, 343 Industries, Starbreeze, Sperasoft, and EA Sports. We are currently working on a large-scale AAA title planned for release in 2028–2029.
— Design and tune AI behavior for sports players who are not directly controlled by the user, with a focus on tactical interaction, positioning, and teamwork.
— Design opponent AI that provides challenging and dynamic gameplay and responds appropriately to player actions.
— Collaborate with programmers and designers to create realistic and believable AI tailored to the specifics of a sports simulator.
— Tune and optimize AI behavior to ensure smooth gameplay and strong performance across PC and console platforms.
— Continuously test AI behavior and improve it based on gameplay analysis, playtests, and feedback from the development team.
— Iterate on AI systems to ensure believable behavior across a wide range of gameplay situations.
— Create and maintain design documentation covering AI mechanics, behavioral models, parameters, and ongoing changes.
— Create and maintain documentation for tools used in AI development and tuning.
— 1+ year of professional experience as a Game Designer, preferably working on PC or console titles.
— Confident knowledge of Unreal Engine and experience working with its tools.
— Experience designing or tuning AI behavior for competitive games.
— Basic experience creating and maintaining AI design documentation.
— Ability to work with AI systems involving a large number of variables and parameters without losing clarity or control over the data.
— Basic understanding of AI state systems, navigation, strategy, and tactical modeling.
— Understanding of tactical principles in sports games, including team behavior, coordination, positioning, and strategic decision-making.
— Strong analytical thinking and willingness to iterate based on playtesting and gameplay data.
