We are looking for a Senior Character 3D Artist to join SportSpired Games and help us create lifelike athletes for our next-gen AAA sports title. SportSpired Games is an international game studio developing next-generation sports simulators. Our team includes professionals with experience at Wargaming, MY · GAMES, The Walt Disney Company, Ubisoft, 343 Industries, Starbreeze, Sperasoft and EA Sports. We're working on a high-scale AAA+ title planned for release in 2028–2029.
Responsibilities
- Create high-quality, photorealistic in-game characters and related content.
- Sculpt high-poly facial and body models.
- Build mid-poly character geometry.
- Design and simulate clothing, followed by refinement through sculpting and modeling.
- Simulate realistic hair using grooming tools.
- Work with haircards and hair textures.
- Create, refine, and optimize high-quality character textures.
- Adapt assets to fit approved shader workflows.
- Create and implement blendshapes.
- Develop character-related props.
- Provide technical support and expertise throughout the production process.
- Ensure asset compatibility and integration in Unreal Engine.
- Participate in cross-functional discussions aimed at improving asset and gameplay quality.
- Perform technical quality control, including testing, debugging, and implementing feedback.
- Analyze feedback and improve content based on player data and test results.
- Use task management tools to track progress, ensure accuracy, and meet deadlines.
Requirements
- 4+ years of experience as a Character Artist in game development.
- Deep understanding of Unreal Engine 5 rendering pipelines and workflows.
- Portfolio demonstrating high-quality real-time character work, especially human characters.
- Excellent knowledge of human anatomy and strong sculpting skills.
- Proficient in modeling and retopology, with awareness of rigging and animation requirements.
- Experience with cloth simulation or manual tailoring of clothing assets.
- High-level texturing skills.
- Skilled in realistic hair simulation, working with haircards, and creating hair textures.
- Solid understanding of UE5 shaders and their integration with textures and performance constraints.
- Understanding of real-time lighting workflows in Unreal Engine 5.
- Experience working with task trackers and version control systems.
- Skilled in blendshape creation.
- Experience using 3D wrapping tools for model cleanup and alignment.
- Proficiency with key tools, including Maya, ZBrush, Marvelous Designer, Faceform (Wrap3D), Substance Painter, XGen, and GS Curve Tool.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills, especially when working with technical artists and animators.
