We are looking for a Senior 3D Equipment Artist to create high-quality, photorealistic sports gear and related assets for our next-generation sports simulator. This role focuses on crafting detailed, production-ready equipment that meets AAA visual standards while maintaining technical performance requirements. SportSpired Games is an international game studio developing next-generation sports simulators. Our team includes professionals with experience at Wargaming, MY.GAMES, The Walt Disney Company, Ubisoft, 343 Industries, Starbreeze, Sperasoft, and EA Sports. We’re building an ambitious AAA title slated for release in 2028–2029.
Responsibilities
- Work on creating photorealistic in-game sneakers, gloves, balls, sports uniforms, trophies, clothing, and other related content that meets the requirements of the gameplay, mechanics and performance.
- Sculpting high-poly equipment and sports uniforms.
- Creating mid-poly geometry for equipment.
- Simulating folds in clothing with further refinement in sculpting and modeling.
- Creating textures.
- Adapting assets to approved shaders.
- Writing documentation and instructions related to production processes. Creating diagrams, tables, and tutorials.
- Providing technical support, expertise, and solutions to problems identified in later stages of production.
- Ensuring technical compatibility and integration of created assets into the engine.
- Participating in discussions and decision-making to improve the quality of assets and the production process.
- Monitoring production deadlines and the relevance of work through task trackers.
Requirements
- 3+ years of experience in the game industry as a character, equipment, prop, weapon, or vehicle artist.
- Strong knowledge of Unreal Engine 5 and its rendering pipelines.
- A portfolio showcasing high-quality equipment or related asset work.
- Solid modeling and retopology skills, with a clear understanding of clean topology and its connection to rigging and animation processes, including 3D wrapping techniques.
- Experience sewing or simulating clothing and refining garments through sculpting and modeling.
- Strong texturing skills and understanding of material creation workflows.
- Understanding of shader functionality in UE5, including how shaders interact with textures and engine limitations.
- Experience working with task management systems and version control workflows.
- Ability to interpret and translate concepts or technical drawings into high-quality 3D assets.
- Proficiency with industry-standard tools such as Maya, ZBrush, Marvelous Designer, and Substance Painter.
